Artistic Practice
I am a Portuguese violinist, artistic director and interdisciplinary artist working across performance, arrangement, artistic production and curation. Rooted in classical music, my practice increasingly explores how live music can interact with other artistic forms, particularly movement, visual art, storytelling and socially engaged practice.
My work has developed across Portugal, the United Kingdom and Germany, bringing together artists from different disciplines, cultural contexts and creative practices. Collaboration is central to my approach: rather than treating music as an isolated element, I am interested in how sound can become part of a wider artistic language, shaped through dialogue between performers, composers, choreographers, visual artists and communities.
Alongside performing, I develop and lead projects from their initial artistic concept through to production and public presentation. My practice encompasses artistic direction, musical arrangement, programming, production, curation and outreach, with a particular interest in creating work that connects artistic experimentation with lived experience and contemporary social questions.
In 2024, I founded the Red Ribbon Project, a multidisciplinary initiative supported by Tŷ Cerdd and Arts Council Wales exploring the history, experience and continuing stigma surrounding HIV through music, visual art and community engagement. Presented in 2025 at the National Museum Cardiff and the Senedd, the project brought together commissioned music, large-scale portraiture, live performance and public engagement, alongside an outreach programme that included workshops encouraging young people to explore HIV, stigma and representation through music and art.
The project strengthened an approach that continues to shape my artistic practice: creating work through exchange between disciplines and perspectives, while allowing different artistic voices to retain their individual identities within a shared work.
I am particularly interested in collaborative processes that cross geographical, cultural and disciplinary boundaries. Whether working in performance, chamber music or interdisciplinary production, I aim to create spaces in which artists can experiment collectively and audiences are invited not only to observe, but to reflect, question and engage.
